จวน

adv. almost, nearly, on the verge of;

n. the house and grounds of a governor.

จวนผู้ว่าราชการ (the governor's house), จวนเข้ามา (approaching near to the appointed time), จวนค่ำ (nearing dusk), จวนได้, เจียนได้ (almost accomplished, nearly succeeding), จวนตัว (cornered), จวนตาย, เจียนตาย (almost dead), จวนเวลาอยู่แล้ว (the time is near at hand, not far distant).

เขาจวนจะตายอยู่แล้ว

He is nearly dead. เราจวนจะถึงอยู่แล้ว We are almost there. ถ้าจวนตัวเข้า เขาก็คงสู้ If he is driven to the wall, he will probably fight.
